Be Yourself lasted for six years at the same small, simple space on Hubert and Hudson Street. It was arguably the last underground club in New York City, and when it closed in 2004 to make way for luxury condos, it was the end of an era: The end of the weekly resident DJ, the community that type of schedule created, and the depth of musical exploration a regular crowd allowed. My experience on that dance floor changed my life and my musical perspective forever.
When we celebrate Be Yourself, we also celebrate the institution of the underground dance club, which subsisted in many cases on music and juice alone. No bottles. No models. No lasers. No LEDs. Just music in the dark with a thousand or so familiar strangers; a safe space for everyone, regardless of race, creed, class, or color.
Be Yourself was the party; Danny Tenaglia was the DJ. Here are 20 of the tracks the defined his six years in that elevated, cut-out booth: Pre-EDM, post-trance, on rare neutral ground where house, techno, R&B, disco and everything in between was valued equally.
Those familiar with Boris and his special parties know he likes to rule the night open to close. On certain nights, he likes to treat the crowd with a special guest of his choosing to make the night even bigger. On May 4th, Canadian duo, The Junkies, will take control of the Pacha booth to warm up the crowd with their unique deep house and techno vibes before Boris takes over for the night. Join the celebration here at Pacha, grab you tickets now!
Coming off a massive Ushuaia residency announcement where Dice will host his new Used & Abused parties, the Desolat king returned to the famed NYC venue Pacha for an eight hour massacre.
DC native Kevin Melito warmed up the room, with New York favorite Willie Graff setting the stage perfectly for Dice. No stranger to the Pacha booth, Dice’s presence alone is enough to alter the vibe of the club. His low-heavy tracks and drawn-out breakdowns are what makes him a top player in the underground niche, and Pacha’s system was and always has been able to take on Dice’s excessive yet tasteful output.
Loco Dice’s sets are always well-structured and he possesses the distinctive ability to take hold of the club after just a few tracks. Interestingly enough, this was demonstrated best through the reactions of the crowd in the mezzanine and booth area.
Breezing through big Desolat numbers like tINI’s ‘Room 305′ and her classic ‘Fail Better’ along with his own ‘Retox’ and edit of KW Griff’s ‘Chris Rock Joint’, he played the perfect tunes that most fans are familiar with. One of the bigger surprises was the reaction to Harvard Bass’s new Turbo hit ‘Cream’, and Dice’s support of this track truly exemplifies his musical breadth. Dice is a true professional and remains an NY favorite.
Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano made a surprise visit to the Subliminal Sessions Pool Party in Miami and put on arguably one of the best sets of the night. The dutch duo had a busy week in Miami, playing both weekends of the Ultra Music Festival and several Winter Music Conference Pool and Nightclub parties. Catch them here at Pacha Friday, April 26.

We are excited to bring the EDC experience to Citi Field for the first time next month! We want all our attendees to have a safe and hassle-free transit, so we have looked into all the different options of transportation available to you. For an event of this magnitude in the middle of NYC, traffic and parking may take longer than usual. Instead of dealing with difficult driving and parking conditions, we encourage you to take advantage of the many public transportation options available to get you to the festival.
We have compiled a list of directions on how to get to Citi Field by bus, train, or subway from all over New York. We encourage you to take a look and find an option that works for you. Please help us eliminate traffic so that everyone can get to the festival quickly and conveniently.
