With almost 25+ years in techno, Marco Bailey is no stranger to the underground dance scene. After suffering a bad motocross accident that put an end to his career in sports around the age of 18, he found that music was “the new thing that gave him goosebumps again” and decided to pursue his new dream of becoming a DJ. Marco Bailey has since become a true icon in dance music.
“There was a time, I think in maybe 1999, 2000, 2001, where at least 60% of my music was Marco Bailey Records. It was incredible!” – Carl Cox on Marco Bailey
To give his fans insight into his life, Bailey released a documentary in 2013 chronicling his career from the early 90’s rave scene to today’s dance explosion, his influence on fellow artists (including Carl Cox, John Digweed, Adam Beyer, and Umek), his decision to start his own label in 2002, as well as many of the moments that shaped his career.
On releasing his documentary, Bailey stated:
“I decided to create a documentary so fans and people all over the world, who are interested in techno, could understand a bit more about who I am. I wanted to show where I came from, how it started, and perhaps prove that paying to become popular -something I see happens too much nowadays on the social networks and pools- isn’t fooling anyone. If you want it, you must work HARD for it!”
